Created on January 4th 2024, "Music is the Movement" is inspired by the most famous Jazz musicians; Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Roy Hanes & Charles Mingus. Working in black and white, Roig provokes the nostalgia from this moment in time when these great musicians came together to the Open Door Jazz club on a quiet night in 1953 in Greenwich Village, NYC. In viewing these musicians through Roig's signature hand cut style allows the viewer to access their imagination and hear the music come through the experience. The colors of the mind's eye open up and you become a part of this experience- where Art & life mix. The community behind Art is also championed through this work- as the venue, talent, and timing all come together to make the moment multidimensional and live on forever.
